"A £15 million, 80,000 square foot office and residential development between London Bridge station and Tate Modern"

Project Details

Greig & Stephenson was asked to design a high quality 'landmark' building that would fulfill 21st century commercial and residential needs in this up and coming area.

The site is in the heart of the rapidly expanding Bankside area of Southwark, on the southern bank of the Thames.  the unremarkable 1980s building on the site had been underused for some years, so planners gave total redevelopment the green light.

  • LocationSouthwark, London
  • Cost£15 million
  • Scale10,000 sqm
  • Time Scale2004 - 2008

The team at GSA came up with a cutting-edge design for a brand-new, and larger, building on the site.  The structure is a concrete frame with post-tensioned concrete floors and a curved mansard roof. Blinkpoint is located at 30 Park Street and is situated close to the River Thames and Borough Market.

The potential of this site has been optimised, with available space increased from 25,000 to 80,000 square feet.  Greig & Stephenson created an infrastructure that is robust and flexible enough to accommodate changes in the property market and changes in the number of tenants over time.  For the first time, there is a building of style and character on this key site.
